PLC Sydney Preschool – Ashfield, New South Wales
The PLC Sydney Preschool is an exceptional teaching and early learning centre suitable for children aged between 3 to 5 years old. The newly constructed campus was purpose-built with children and staff at the forefront of the facility’s design in both the indoor and outdoor premises. The development ensured access to top-tier facilities, resources, supplies and equipment for teachers, students, and parents, all conveniently located in the inner West of Sydney in Ashfield.
Versalux collaborated closely with NBRS Architecture, 3 Wires Electrical, Ken Offord Electrical Engineers and PLC Sydney Preschool to bring the newly constructed centre to life through the installation of high quality lighting systems that would seamlessly integrate the interior and exterior components of the facility. The objective of engaging Versalux was to implement illumination solutions that would improve people’s quality of life across different areas of the Preschool over the course of the working and learning day, ensuring the luminaires selection would achieve deliver superlative performance throughout the corridors, multi-purpose rooms and the outdoor urban landscape that the Preschool’s facilities have to offer.
The exteriors of the PLC Sydney Preschool required high quality and dependable pole mounted luminaires for long lasting security and safety. The EQUINOX is a versatile area luminaire strategically laid out to illuminate the public spaces surrounded by lush greenery. The EQUINOX series was fitted onto 4 metre VESTA tapered poles, with its adjustable mount set to accept the vertical pole spigot without the need for an outreach arm. Great value was place on the exterior lighting systems with an emphasis on creating a comfortable transition between the outdoor area to the interior of the facility. The EQUINOX pole mounted luminaires with their highly efficient and effective optic choices provide powerful, direct illumination to act as a point of security for children and teachers as well as setting a positive mood for an unmatched exterior ambience.
The EMMA series is a range of premium wall mounted direct/indirect luminaires that was selected for the immediate building exteriors. The European styled luminaires are stunning in design and solid in construction featuring fine details and minimalistic lines. The EMMA has an IP66 rating to withstand and protect itself against dust and moisture across any array of outdoor environments and weather conditions. Multiple EMMA’s are positioned in strategic locations both meet pedestrian needs and enhance visuals as a real architectural centrepiece of the building, working in tandem to create a pleasant atmosphere across the pathways and ramps to provide low glare illumination and a central point of navigation for students, teachers and parents.
The INFINITI series is elegant in appearance and delivers superior technical performance in the multi-purpose room, wire suspended from the ceiling and arranged in a 90 degree ‘U’ shape module system for visual appeal and excellent illumination. The INFINITI luminaires make a bold statement surrounded by timber materials in combination with the white minimalistic tones, to allow the extrusion to create an interactive and positive social experience for younger children. The INFINITI P series, with its direct/indirect component, provide excellent vertical illumination and superb horizontal uniformity to help students remain alert and increase productivity, meeting the needs of all users achieving their goals and completing tasks set out for the day in the modern day learning curriculum.
The exterior eaves of the educational building are fitted with the modern shaped FRANCO MINI floodlights. Constructed of high-quality materials and delivering IP65 protection rating, the FRANCO MINI floodlights provide a narrow floodlight beam to both illuminate and accentuate the urban landscape, creating spectacular night-time illumination effects to the area.
Simultaneously THE PAD series is utilised throughout the undercover ceilings of the exterior. Recessed downlights with minimal flat trim, THE PAD provides uniform illumination as a visual aid to navigate the walkways serving as a key access point and added security and safety for students, teachers, and parents.
